Directions to Legislative Plaza

Legislative Plaza is located on 6th Avenue between Union and Charlotte Streets in downtown Nashville. All students, parents, and teachers MUST enter Legislative Plaza at the corner of 6th and Union Street. EVERYONE must go through security (including metal detectors) at this entry so please no knives, firearms, or weapons of any kind!

Parking for Tennessee History Day

The "State of Tennessee Employee Parking Lots" are free during the week after 5:00 and on weekends. The two closest paid lots are near the Nashville Public Library on Church Street. They are $6.00 for the entire day. As always, do not leave valuables unattended in your automobile.

Driving directions

To park in the state parking lots:

From I-40, exit at Charlotte and drive toward downtown. After you cross 8th Avenue, the State Employee Parking lots behind the Tennessee Supreme Court Building and the Tennessee State Library and Archives will be on your left. Park there and walk up the hill on Charlotte toward downtown. Cross 7th Avenue and the Plaza will be on your right. Signs will be posted. You MUST enter the building at the corner of 6th and Union.

To park at the Nashville Public Library:

From I-40, exit at Broadway and drive towards downtown. At 7th Avenue, turn left onto 7th. Cross Commerce street and the entrance to the Library parking garage will be on your right. After exiting your car, walk up either 6th Avenue or 7th Avenue toward the Legislative Plaza/State Capitol. Once you cross Union, the plaza will be immediately in front of you. Signs will be posted. You MUST enter the building at the corner of 6th and Union.
